Biography

Ladislav Volicer is affiliated with the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida, Tampa, where his research focuses on gerontology and long-term care. His most-cited publication, "Loneliness and Isolation in Long-term Care and the COVID-19 Pandemic" (2020), has received 200 citations, reflecting the significant impact of his work on understanding critical issues affecting older adults in institutional settings. Dr. Volicer earned his M.D. with honors and has received numerous distinguished recognitions throughout his career, including the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences Award, the Merck Faculty Development Award, the Veterans Administration Alcoholism Research Award, and the Barry Reisberg Award for Alzheimer's Research. He is a Fellow of both the Gerontological Society of America and the American Academy of Nursing, and has been honored as a Gibson Travelling Fellow by the Australian Association of Gerontology.
