Agricultural Science Article Types We Publish
We welcome diverse research contributions that advance agricultural science, from fundamental plant genetics to applied farming systems. All submissions undergo rigorous peer review by experts in your specific agricultural discipline.
Original Research Articles
Full-length experimental studies in crop genetics, plant breeding, soil chemistry, agricultural modeling, pest management, or farming systems. Include comprehensive methodology, statistical analysis, and field trial data.
Field Trial Reports
Detailed reports of multi-season field experiments, variety trials, or on-farm research. Must include site descriptions, environmental data, and statistical validation of agricultural outcomes.
Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses
Comprehensive evidence syntheses on agricultural topics such as crop yield factors, soil management practices, or climate adaptation strategies. Follow PRISMA guidelines for agricultural research.
Methods & Protocols
Novel laboratory techniques, field sampling methods, analytical protocols, or agricultural technology applications. Include validation data and reproducibility guidelines for agricultural researchers.
Short Communications
Concise reports presenting focused agricultural findings with clear methodological transparency.
Case Studies
In-depth analyses of specific agricultural scenarios, farm management decisions, or regional crop production challenges. Include economic analysis and practical implications for agricultural practitioners.
Review Articles
Comprehensive syntheses of current knowledge in plant physiology, agricultural biotechnology, precision farming, or sustainable agriculture. Must provide critical analysis and identify research gaps.

Reporting Guidelines
Authors submitting systematic reviews or meta-analyses must follow PRISMA guidelines. Submissions should include a completed PRISMA checklist and flow diagram. Upload these documents as supplementary files during submission. Manuscripts must clearly describe search strategies, inclusion criteria, screening processes, data extraction, and methods used for synthesizing agricultural research evidence.
Observational field studies, including cross-sectional, cohort, and case–control designs in agricultural research, should follow STROBE guidelines. Authors must include a completed STROBE checklist upon submission. Methods sections should fully describe study design, field sampling, measurement tools, and bias mitigation strategies.
Authors must follow SAGER guidelines when sex or gender variables are relevant to agricultural research. Manuscripts should specify whether sex or gender was considered in study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting. If variables were not included, authors must justify their exclusion. All sex- or gender-disaggregated data must be made available as supplementary files.
All empirical agricultural research must include a Data Availability Statement describing how readers can access field data, soil analyses, genetic data, or statistical code. Repositories must be stable, publicly accessible, and provide persistent identifiers. Sensitive data may be shared on request with justification.
All images, including field photographs, maps, plots, and micrographs, must accurately represent original data. Authors must disclose any adjustments and confirm no selective alteration was performed. Manipulated or composite images must be clearly labeled. Editors may request raw images during review.
All submissions must include sufficient statistical detail to allow independent evaluation. When appropriate, manuscripts may undergo statistical review. Authors must describe all models used, justify assumptions, and provide full reporting of variance, replication, and effect sizes for agricultural datasets.
