The journal
What IJIP publishes
Infection prevention is carried out at a particular point by someone responsible for it — a laboratory that identifies a resistant organism, a surgical team that changes a routine, an immunization program that closes a gap in coverage, a ministry that writes a standard. This journal holds that whole range in one place, so evidence produced at one point reaches the people working at the others.
It is international in the plain sense: it publishes prevention research from any country and any resource setting, and asks authors to describe the setting closely enough that a reader elsewhere can judge what transfers.
Subject coverage runs from sources, reservoirs and resistance, through detection and surveillance, the measures that interrupt transmission and the means that protect exposed people, to the programs, systems and policy that keep prevention in place. Laboratory, clinical, environmental, veterinary, behavioral and health-systems contributions are all read on the terms of the discipline that produced them.

The editorial board has 7 members working in 6 countries. Their names, roles and verified profiles are listed on the editorial board page. Editors recuse themselves from decisions on their own submissions, which are handled independently.

What authors should know before submitting
- Peer review
- Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review, where they are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
- Decisions
- Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Those decisions are reached independently of fees, memberships, optional services, and editorial or reviewing roles.
- Access and reuse
- Articles are published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, and each is registered with Crossref under the DOI prefix 10.14302. Authors retain copyright. Full terms are on the copyright and license page.
- Article processing charge
- The charge is invoiced only after a manuscript has been accepted, and it takes no part
