Overview
An adenoidectomy is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the adenoid glands in the back of the nose. It can help improve breathing and resolve several ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions, including recurrent ear infections, persistent stuffy nose, and snoring and sleep apnea. In children, an adenoidectomy can also improve speech and ability to hear. The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia in a hospital or clinic and typically takes about 15 minutes. Following an adenoidectomy, the patient should have improved breathing and better overall health.
