Overview
Public Health and Epidemiology Health Policy encompasses the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies designed to protect and improve population health through evidence-based interventions and systematic disease surveillance. Research published in Public Health International addresses diverse dimensions of this field, including the design of population-based screening programs for cancer prevention in specific national contexts, assessment of knowledge and behavioral practices related to major non-communicable diseases among community populations, and evaluation of occupational health awareness among healthcare facility workers regarding infectious disease transmission. The journal has also examined potential environmental health risks through systematic reviews of biological effects from radiofrequency radiation exposure. These investigations reflect the multifaceted nature of health policy research, spanning chronic disease prevention, infectious disease control, environmental health hazards, and the critical gap between public knowledge and evidence-based health practices. Such work matters because effective health policies depend on understanding local epidemiological patterns, cultural contexts, and the specific barriers that populations face in adopting protective health behaviors, particularly in resource-variable settings where tailored interventions can significantly reduce disease burden and improve health outcomes across diverse communities.
