Overview
Sustainable development is the pursuit of economic and social progress that meets present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own, integrating economic viability, social equity, and environmental protection into a single framework. It emphasizes the prudent stewardship of natural resources, particularly Water, alongside climate resilience and inclusive gains in health, education, and livelihoods, and is operationalized internationally through the Sustainable Development Goals. Effective sustainable development depends on integrated governance that accounts for environmental limits and the trade-offs among growth, conservation, and welfare across scales. Water resources are a recurring focus, encompassing groundwater as both heritage and a key to regional development, Water-quality management, and the control of waterborne disease. Research in this area examines sustainable groundwater and Water management, permaculture and sustainable agriculture, women's engagement in environmental conservation, food safety, occupational and green-economy health considerations, the climate-land degradation-food security nexus, and the use of human-development indicators to monitor crises. The journal publishes peer-reviewed research across Water science, environmental management, agriculture, public health, and the social dimensions of development, supporting evidence-based approaches to resource sustainability, resilience, and equitable progress.
