Article Processing Charges

Journal of Farming (JF) is a fully open access journal serving crop science, livestock systems, agri-technology, soil health, and sustainable production research. Article Processing Charges (APCs) support rigorous peer review, professional production, and global discovery so research reaches farmers, scientists, and policy leaders without access barriers.

APCs are requested only after acceptance and never influence editorial decisions.

1

Standard APC

USD 1200 per accepted article. This rate applies to research articles, reviews, short communications, case studies, perspectives, and editorials.

The APC is confirmed after acceptance and before any payment is requested. If your institution requires invoices or a specific billing format, the editorial office can provide documentation.

2

What the APC supports

APCs fund the complete publishing workflow that ensures agricultural research is accurate, transparent, and discoverable across global databases and practitioner networks.

Editorial assessment

Scope checks, ethics screening, and assignment to expert editors in farming, agronomy, and sustainability.

Peer review management

Single blind peer review coordination and structured decision tracking for consistent outcomes.

Waivers and discounts

JF maintains waiver options to keep publishing accessible across regions and career stages. Waivers are reviewed independently of editorial decisions.

  • Editors and reviewers: Up to 30 percent waiver for active contributors. Not combinable with other offers.
  • Low-income regions: Partial waivers for authors from eligible low and lower-middle-income countries.
  • Student support: Verified students may request a reduced APC of USD 540.
  • Membership benefits: Additional savings may apply for eligible JF members.
  • Special issue support: Limited-time waivers may be available for approved thematic issues.

Request waivers by emailing [email protected] with your manuscript title, affiliation, and funding context.

4

Funding and billing

APCs are commonly covered by research grants, institutional open access funds, or industry sponsors. The editorial office can provide invoices, receipts, and documentation for reimbursements.

Institutional billing

We can issue pro forma invoices or consolidated billing to support university procurement workflows.

Grant compliance

Many funders allow APCs as eligible expenses. We provide documentation to support compliance and reporting.

5

Payment and withdrawal policy

Payment instructions are provided after acceptance. Payment methods include card, bank transfer, and institutional purchase orders where available. Receipts are issued for institutional records.

Withdrawal charges are 30% of the APC if a manuscript is withdrawn after three days from submission. Authors should submit exclusively to JF until an official withdrawal confirmation is issued.

6

Why open access matters for farming research

Open access accelerates adoption of research across the farming value chain. Agronomists, extension services, and growers benefit when validated findings are available without paywalls. This leads to faster uptake of climate resilient practices, precision agriculture methods, and sustainable livestock systems.

JF prioritizes clear titles, focused abstracts, and consistent keywords to improve indexing performance. Strong metadata helps your research reach the right audience, from regional extension specialists to policy planners and private sector innovators.

Articles that include well documented datasets, field protocols, or decision support tools often gain broader reuse and higher citation impact.

7

APC planning checklist

Planning early reduces administrative delays and helps ensure quick publication after acceptance. The checklist below reflects the most common items required by institutions and funders.

  • Confirm funder requirements for open access and APC reimbursement language.
  • Verify the corresponding author details and institutional billing address.
  • Check whether your institution maintains an open access publishing fund.
  • Prepare a waiver request if applicable for student, regional, or reviewer support.
  • Ensure ethics approvals, consent statements, and data availability information are complete.
8

Service commitments

APC support enables consistent editorial communication and production quality. JF focuses on clear decisions, transparent feedback, and reliable publishing timelines that respect author and funder expectations.

  • APC details are confirmed after acceptance and before any payment request.
  • Editors provide structured decision letters with actionable revision guidance.
  • Proofs are supplied for review prior to final publication.
  • Final articles are published in web, PDF, and XML formats with persistent identifiers.

If you need a specific invoice format or additional documentation, contact the editorial office before payment.

9

Value for authors and institutions

Publishing in Journal of Farming provides immediate access for researchers, extension services, and practitioners who implement findings in real world settings. Open access increases readership across regions where agriculture is the primary economic driver and where library access may be limited.

For institutions, APC supported publishing offers predictable costs and measurable impact. Articles with clear data sharing, transparent methods, and practical implications are more likely to influence guidelines, farm management decisions, and policy initiatives.

JF encourages authors to include applied recommendations, sustainability metrics, and economic implications where relevant. These elements strengthen visibility and real world adoption globally.
