Editorial Policies
Journal of Farming (JF) follows transparent, fair, and ethical publishing practices to protect research integrity and support evidence based agriculture.
All manuscripts are assessed for scientific merit, ethical compliance, and relevance to farming systems and sustainability.
JF uses a single blind peer review process. Reviewers are aware of author identities to assess research context and related work, while reviewer identities remain confidential to authors. This model supports informed evaluation while protecting reviewer independence.
All submissions undergo an initial scope and ethics screening before external review.
- Scientific validity and methodological rigor.
- Originality and contribution to farming research.
- Ethical compliance and transparency of reporting.
- Practical relevance for agriculture, sustainability, or food systems.
- Clarity of presentation and completeness of data reporting.
JF adheres to international publication ethics standards. Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation, and duplicate publication. Suspected misconduct is investigated by the editorial office and may lead to rejection or retraction.
Authors must provide ethics approval numbers and confirm informed consent for studies involving animals, human participants, or sensitive farm data.
Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive feedback and to identify methodological concerns, ethical issues, or potential conflicts of interest. Confidentiality is required throughout the review process.
All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the work and must approve the final manuscript. Author contribution statements are required to ensure transparency of roles and responsibilities.
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research or review process. Disclosures are published with the article to support transparency.
Authors must remove direct identifiers and follow applicable privacy rules when reporting farm or personal data. If data sharing is restricted, the manuscript must explain the limitation and provide a pathway for qualified access where possible.
JF encourages authors to share data and code whenever possible. Data availability statements are required for all submissions. When data cannot be shared, authors must provide a clear justification and describe access conditions.
Authors are encouraged to follow recognized reporting guidelines such as CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, and ARRIVE. Clear reporting improves reproducibility and reduces reviewer uncertainty, particularly for field trials and multi site studies.
For agronomic trials, include site descriptions, soil characteristics, management practices, and seasonal context so results can be interpreted across regions.
Preprints are permitted. Authors must disclose preprint postings and provide the DOI or link at submission. The published version should clearly reflect any substantive updates from the preprint.
AI tools may be used for language support, but authors remain responsible for accuracy, originality, and interpretation. Any AI assisted writing or analysis tools must be disclosed.
When errors are identified after publication, JF will issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate. This protects the scientific record and ensures readers have access to accurate information.
Authors are kept informed of review progress and decisions through the submission system. JF aims to provide clear timelines, detailed feedback, and consistent decision rationale to support author planning.
Editorial decisions are independent of sponsors, advertisers, or commercial interests. JF protects the integrity of the review process by separating editorial activities from business functions.
Images and figures should accurately represent the original data. Undisclosed manipulation, selective reporting, or omission of key results may lead to rejection or retraction.
If adjustments are made for clarity, authors must describe the changes and ensure they do not alter interpretation.
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing a clear scientific rationale. Appeals are reviewed by senior editors and may result in re evaluation if justified. Complaints are handled confidentially and in accordance with ethical guidelines.
JF publishes under open access licensing to maximize readership and reuse. Authors retain copyright and grant reuse rights with proper attribution. Licensing details are provided in the copyright and license policy.
