Submit Special Issue
Journal of Farming (JF) welcomes submissions to approved special issues that focus on urgent themes in agriculture, sustainability, and food systems.
All special issue manuscripts follow the same peer review standards as regular issues.
- Review the special issue scope and confirm alignment with the topic.
- Follow the standard Instructions For Author.
- Indicate the special issue title in your cover letter and submission notes.
- Provide a short summary of how your work contributes to the theme.
Invited papers are welcome, but unsolicited submissions that match the scope are also considered.
Original Research
Field trials, modeling studies, or applied experiments aligned with the theme.
Systematic Reviews
Evidence syntheses that consolidate best practices and highlight gaps.
Applied Case Studies
Real world implementation examples with measurable outcomes.
Special issue submissions follow single blind peer review. Guest editors may recommend reviewers, but final decisions are made by the JF editorial leadership to ensure consistency and integrity.
Manuscripts that do not align with the special issue theme may be redirected to the regular issue for consideration.
Authors should provide complete ethics approvals, data availability statements, and conflict of interest disclosures. Manuscripts are evaluated for methodological quality, relevance to the theme, and contribution to agricultural practice.
Tip: In your cover letter, explain how your study advances the special issue theme and why it matters for farmers, extension services, or policymakers.
Align your abstract and keywords with the special issue theme. Use clear headings, avoid excessive background detail, and emphasize applied outcomes such as yield stability, input efficiency, or sustainability benefits.
Provide context about farm conditions, climate, and management practices so readers can interpret findings across regions.
Special issues concentrate attention on a focused topic, increasing visibility among readers who search for that theme. Articles receive contextual visibility alongside related studies, often leading to higher engagement and citations.
- Enhanced discoverability through thematic promotion.
- Cross article visibility within a curated collection.
- Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Special issues receive targeted promotion through journal channels and discovery platforms. This focused attention helps practitioners, extension services, and policymakers locate research that aligns with the theme.
Authors can enhance reach by sharing the published article with research networks, producer groups, and institutional repositories using the DOI and official citation.
Special issues are published on a rolling basis as articles are accepted. This ensures rapid visibility while maintaining rigorous review standards. After acceptance, articles move into production with copyediting and proof review.
Authors should respond promptly to revision requests to keep the special issue on schedule.
