Proposed Special Issue
Journal of Farming (JF) welcomes proposals for special issues that address urgent themes in agriculture, sustainability, and food systems.
Well designed special issues accelerate progress by convening high quality research around a shared goal.
Proposals are welcome from senior researchers, clinical or extension leaders, and multidisciplinary teams with demonstrated expertise. Guest editors should have an active publication record and the capacity to manage peer review.
JF values geographic diversity and applied experience from extension and industry partners. Collaborative proposals with cross regional teams are encouraged to broaden perspective for impact globally.
Potential themes include climate resilient farming, soil carbon management, precision agriculture, integrated pest management, regenerative practices, agri-technology adoption, water efficiency, sustainable livestock systems, and food security policy.

Feasibility
Clear plan for solicitation, volume, and editorial oversight.
Proposals are reviewed by the editorial office and senior editors with relevant expertise. We may request clarifications, adjustments to scope, or a revised timeline. Approval depends on topic relevance, editorial capacity, and expected contribution to the field.
Guest editors collaborate with the JF editorial office to identify reviewers, manage peer review, and ensure ethical compliance. All submissions undergo standard peer review and final decisions are made by the journal leadership.
Guest editors are expected to adhere to confidentiality, conflict of interest policies, and reporting standards throughout the process.
Special issues must meet the same ethical and scientific standards as regular issues. Guest editors should ensure manuscripts include ethics approvals, data availability statements, and conflict of interest disclosures where appropriate.
Special issues concentrate attention on a defined theme, improving discoverability and citation potential for participating authors. Curated collections help shape the research agenda and provide a reference point for practitioners and policymakers.
Once approved, the journal provides a recommended timeline for invitations, submissions, peer review, and publication. Articles are published online as soon as they are accepted to ensure timely visibility.
JF supports guest editors with submission tracking, reviewer management, and promotional guidance to maximize reach.
Guest editors should communicate expected deadlines to invited authors and encourage timely revisions. This helps maintain momentum and ensures the special issue launches within the planned window.
Note: Proposals that include a balanced mix of original research, reviews, and applied perspectives are more likely to be approved.
