Aims and Scope

International Journal of Aquaculture Research and Development aims to facilitate the growth of both basic and applied research in aquaculture and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information in the field. Submissions to the journal are welcomed from researchers, scientists and practitioners in the field of aquaculture, and related areas. The primary objective of this journal is to stimulate and facilitate research, development, and management of aquaculture systems and to advance the understanding of their interactions and benefits to society.

The scope of IJAR includes the study of any aspect related to aquaculture, including, but not limited to, production and management of aquatic organisms and aquatic products, animal husbandry, genetics, nutrition, and physiology, and their effects on the environment. The journal encourages research which focuses on the optimization of aquatic production and the sustainable utilization of aquatic resources and ecosystems for human benefit. IJAR also encourages and publishes impactful research on the economic, social and other aspects of aquaculture, as well as interdisciplinary approaches, applied research, and management perspectives.

Aquaculture systems: Studies that investigate the design, management and optimization of aquaculture systems, including recirculation, pond, cage and tank systems.

Aquaculture genetics and breeding: Research that aims to improve the genetic and breeding of aquatic animals and plants to enhance growth, disease resistance, and other desirable traits.

Aquaculture nutrition: Studies that investigate the nutritional requirements of aquatic animals and plants, and the development of feed formulations and feeding strategies.

Aquaculture health management: Research that aims to understand and control the diseases and parasites that affect aquatic animals and plants, and the development of effective health management strategies.

Aquaculture environmental management: Studies that investigate the impacts of aquaculture on the environment and the development of strategies to minimize these impacts.
Aquaculture socio-economics: Research that investigates the economic, social and cultural aspects of aquaculture development and its implications for sustainable development.

Aquaculture biotechnology: Studies that investigate the application of advanced technologies such as biotechnology, genetics, and biochemistry to improve the production and quality of aquatic animals and plants.
