Biography

Zheng Jiang is an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, United States. He earned his M.D. in Medicine from China Medical University, Shen-Yang, China (1998โ€“2004) and his Ph.D. from the College of Biomedical Science at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida (2004โ€“2009). His research focuses on retinal neuroscience, including photoentrainment mechanisms, neurotransmitter signaling, synaptic organization, and the functional roles of glycinergic and cholinergic systems in vertebrate and mammalian retinas. His most-cited publication examines the contribution of pannexin channels to afterimage signals in the amphibian retina (2025), and his work has advanced understanding of retinal circuitry assembly, melanopsin and neuropsin signaling, and modulatory processes in retinal ganglion cells and interplexiform cells.
