Why publish here

Publishing model and journal standards

Editorial assessment and peer review

Every submission undergoes initial editorial screening. Suitable manuscripts proceed to independent, single-blind peer review (double-blind on request), and written reviewer reports inform the editorial decision.

Immediate open access

Published articles are openly available under CC BY 4.0 without a subscription barrier.

Multidisciplinary scope

JHHR welcomes research from across health-related disciplines, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration.

DOI registration and discoverability

Published article metadata are registered with Crossref, and record-level links are shown where the stored DOI resolves. Articles are discoverable through confirmed scholarly services.

What we invite

Manuscript categories

Original Research

Full-length studies using clinical, epidemiological, translational, laboratory or other appropriate methods to address a defined human-health question.

Review Articles

Narrative, systematic and scoping reviews that synthesize evidence and follow the applicable reporting guidance.

Short Communications

Focused reports of relevant findings or methods: 2,000–3,000 words, a 200-word unstructured abstract, up to 4 figures or tables and up to 25 references.

Case Reports

Clinically informative cases with a direct contribution to human-health knowledge and reporting appropriate to the case.

Commentaries

Scholarly perspectives within the journal’s scope. Authors should confirm length and reference expectations with the editorial office before submission.

Before you submit

Submission guidelines

  • Abstract length and structure vary by article type. Refer to the Instructions for Authors.
  • High-resolution figures (minimum 300 DPI)
  • References formatted according to Vancouver style
  • Ethics-approval and informed-consent documentation
  • Adherence to relevant reporting guidelines (CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA) where applicable

Exact word limits differ by article type — see Instructions for Authors for the full table.

Standards

Editorial integrity

All submissions undergo plagiarism screening using industry-standard software. JHHR follows COPE guidance for handling ethical issues and suspected misconduct. Authors must declare any conflicts of interest and confirm that appropriate ethics approval was obtained for human-subjects research. Data fabrication, falsification and duplicate publication are grounds for rejection and, if discovered post-publication, retraction — see Editorial Policies.
