Membership

Membership provides a published discount on the article processing charge. It is administered separately from submission assessment, peer review, and editorial decisions.

01 · Definition

What membership is

Members support the journal and receive a standing discount on the article processing charge. Researchers, clinicians, and institutions can compare the published tiers and confirm applicable terms with the editorial office.

  • Who may join

Researchers, clinicians, and institutions working in thyroid oncology may contact the editorial office about the published membership tiers. Membership is separate from an editorial appointment.

  • What it costs

An annual fee for the individual and institutional tiers, or a one-time fee for the lifetime tier. The figures are in the table below.

  • What it provides

A percentage discount on the article processing charge, applied at invoicing. Institutional membership applies the discount to authors affiliated with the member institution.

  • Duration and renewal

The individual and institutional tiers are annual memberships. The lifetime tier carries a one-time fee. The editorial office confirms the start date and applicable membership terms.

02 · Editorial independence

Membership and editorial decisions

Membership is administered separately from editorial assessment. Editors apply the same scope, quality, ethics, and reporting criteria to every manuscript and are not informed of an author’s membership status.

The discount is applied by administrative staff at invoicing, after an acceptance decision has been taken.

  • Editorial criteria. Acceptance and rejection decisions use the same published criteria for members and non-members.
  • Peer review. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
  • Editorial appointments. Editors are selected on the basis of scholarly expertise; membership is separate from editorial appointment.
  • Special issues. Proposals and manuscripts are assessed under the same editorial requirements regardless of membership.
  • Journal policies. The same ethics, reporting, authorship, and integrity requirements apply to every author.
  • Published record. Membership has no role in indexing, presentation, or promotion after publication.

04 · Discount

How the discount is applied

  1. The manuscript is decided on its merits

Screening, peer review and the editorial decision proceed exactly as for any other submission. Membership plays no part and is not visible to the editor.

  2. The charge is raised after acceptance

The article processing charge for the article type is determined from the published table.

  3. The discount is applied at invoicing

The member percentage is deducted and the invoice shows the full charge, the discount and the amount payable.

  4. Payment

The invoice states the payment terms. Contact the editorial office about billing arrangements.

Worked example
A member holding the Clinician tier publishes an original research article. The charge is USD 1,800; the 15% member discount is USD 270; the amount payable is USD 1,530.
Institutional eligibility
The editorial office confirms the affiliated-author coverage of an institutional membership before applying a discount.
Combining
The editorial office confirms how the membership discount applies alongside any other approved fee relief.
If membership lapses
The editorial office confirms eligibility and the applicable discount for the manuscript.

05 · Joining

Joining, renewing and cancelling

Membership is arranged through the editorial office, which handles applications, invoicing and renewals. It is administered separately from the editorial process.

  • Applying

Write to the editorial office with the tier, and the institution where applicable. You will receive an invoice and confirmation of the start date.

  • Renewing

Contact the editorial office to renew an annual membership and confirm the renewal terms.

  • Cancelling

Contact the editorial office about cancellation and the terms applicable to the membership.

  • Questions

Anything about fees, eligibility or invoicing goes to the editorial office. Questions about a manuscript go through the ordinary editorial channel and are answered without reference to membership.
