Journal of Thyroid Cancer · Article Processing Charges
Article Processing Charges
JTC is fully open access. There is no submission fee and no reader charge. A single article processing charge falls due only after a manuscript has been accepted.
01 · The charge
What publication costs
The table lists the four standard article types with published charges. Case reports, case series, editorials, and commentaries are editorial-agreement types; the editorial office confirms the applicable manuscript guidance and charge before submission.
| Article type | Charge |
|---|---|
| Original research | USD 1,800 |
| Review article | USD 1,720 |
| Methods and tools | USD 1,600 |
| Short communication | USD 1,720 |
There is no submission fee, and no article processing charge is raised on a manuscript that is declined or while one is under review. Withdrawal is governed separately, by the terms set out below.
02 · Coverage
What the charge covers
Editorial handling
Screening, editor assignment, management of peer review and the editorial decision process.
Production
Copy-editing, typesetting, proofing and preparation of the published article in its final formats.
Registration and metadata
Crossref DOI registration and deposit of citation metadata for registered article records.
Open access publication
Immediate open access under CC BY 4.0, with copyright retained by the authors and no reader or subscription charge.
Long-term preservation
Participation in the publisher’s digital-preservation program so the record remains available independently of the publisher’s own platform.
Hosting and discovery
Hosting of the article and exposure of its metadata for harvesting and discovery.
03 · Independence
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Decisions remain independent of any fee, membership, service, or role.
The article processing charge is raised after acceptance and is administered separately from manuscript screening, reviewer selection, peer review, and the editorial decision.
Manuscripts that proceed beyond screening follow the same peer-review model. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
04 · Billing
Invoicing and payment
Acceptance
The editorial decision is taken and communicated. Only then does the charge arise.
Invoice
The editorial office issues an invoice to the corresponding author or to the institution or funder named for billing. Provide billing details, purchase-order numbers and any tax registration at this point.
Payment
The invoice states the payment terms. Contact the editorial office about institutional or funder billing arrangements.
Publication
Publication follows completion of editorial and production requirements and the applicable billing arrangements.
- Currency
- All charges are stated and invoiced in US dollars.
- Taxes
- Any tax that applies is determined by the billing jurisdiction and shown separately on the invoice. The figures in the table above are exclusive of tax.
- Bank charges
- Where a payment route deducts a transfer fee, the invoiced amount is what must be received.
- Additional charges
- There are none. There is no charge for color figures, for extra pages, for supplementary files or for the number of authors.

Withdrawing a manuscript
Authors may withdraw a manuscript at any point, and the terms below apply in full. They are publisher-wide and identical for every Open Access Pub journal.
Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.
Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
05 · Fee relief
Discounts and assistance
Authors may contact the editorial office about fee relief. Requests are handled administratively and separately from the editorial process.
Membership of the publisher’s program provides the published discount described on the membership page. The discount is applied through billing after the editorial decision.
Billing and fee-relief inquiries go to the editorial office at [email protected].
Where to go next
Before you submit
The charge is one part of the decision. The scope and the manuscript requirements are the rest.
