Biography
Dr. Prasad Konkalmatt is an Assistant Professor at George Washington University, Washington, DC, with a PhD from the University of Toledo. He is a molecular physiologist with expertise in the development and use of adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors for in vivo gene delivery, holding a U.S. patent on AAV vectors for gene delivery. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms by which dopamine receptors and GPR37L1 regulate renal function and blood pressure, including renal-specific and renal-segment-specific gene expression and silencing, as well as therapeutic applications of AAV-mediated cardiac-specific gene expression in mouse models of cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury and hind-limb ischemia. Dr. Konkalmatt has authored 30 articles listed in PubMed, including his most-cited publication on G protein-coupled receptor 37L1 regulation of renal sodium transport and blood pressure (2019), with one publication featured as a journal cover and another as the subject of an editorial commentary.
